Helium

This is a network developed in 2013 by American company Helium Systems. It should become the world's first peer-to-peer LoRaWAN IoT network. The network consists of wireless hotspots that provide Internet connectivity for LoRaWAN IoT devices. LoRaWAN is a protocol used by many IoT devices. Through this protocol, these devices can connect to other IoT devices and routers.

Proof-of-Coverage (PoC) is the consensus mechanism used by Helium. This consensus mechanism allows hotspots to cooperate with each other.
